Father Micheal Assembly - November 2018
14 November 2018
Fr. Michael came to lead Collective Worship today. He told us that he was having some visitors for a special meeting and a meal. He said that he had asked his guests what the liked to eat. One told him that they don’t eat bread, another said that they don’t eat potatoes, another said that they don’t eat meat, one said that they don’t eat dairy products and the last one said no fruit. He told us that he has lots of recipes books, but how was he going to cook a meal to suit all these tastes?
He told us people are fussy when there is no need to be and that there is enough food in the World for everyone, but because some people are fussy and greedy, many people go without.
Fr. Michael encouraged us to try new things and never say that we don’t like something until we have tried it and we need to remember those who go without food.
He also told us that this is a special time of year. It is a time when we remember those who have died fighting in wars and that it is 100th anniversary of World War 1.
He told us that although many people have died in wars, they sometimes cannot be avoided. Fr. Michael reminded us that Jesus said:“Blest are the peacemakers” those people who always try their best for peace.
On 1st November, we remember all the saints who have died, those people who did something selfless in their lives. Fr. Michael told us that we all know someone who is a saint and that if we try our best to be a friend of Jesus, we may all one day be saints. On 2nd of November we remember those people who have died who are important to us, those who have died that we have loved.
