Multicultural Day and Evening
20 October 2016
This week, Years 4, 5 and 6 took part in an African dance workshop. They learned about the country of Mali and were able to rehearse and perform a celebratory dance for African ceremonies. We practiced our coordination in time with the beat of the music and had lots of fun performing it at the end.
In the afternoon, the whole school was treated to a sneak preview performance of the St Bart’s band, which gave us a taster as to the songs we heard performed on the evening.
At 4:30, the doors opened and hundreds of children and their families and friends came to enjoy our multicultural celebrations. Many worldwide foods could be enjoyed on the night, including foods and drinks from Italy, India, America, Hungary, Mexico and the Caribbean. Children also enjoyed playing games, getting Henna tattoos, getting their face painted, and buying some of their favourite books. At the end of the night, we enjoyed a fantastic firework display!
Thank you to all staff, parent volunteers and people who attended on the night!
