Good morning class 14.

The last day of remote learning!

English - Today you are imagining you are Bob Fagin and writing a diary about your day. Remember to write in first person, past tense and use time conjunctions.

Maths - You are working from page 11 today completing 2-step word problems. Read the question carefully and pick out the key information and work out which operations you will need to use. You will need to complete two sums to find the answers.

Art - You have a mindfulness colouring sheet in the style of William Morris to complete. There is an information sheet to read to find out who William Morris is. You could write some f the key information in to your books.

Good morning class 14. I hope you are all well.

Today is day 8 of home learning.

English - Your task today is to is to read the chapter from Oliver Twist. (This was in week 1 of your packs) Using the information from the text and the pictures can you come up with some interesting adjective to describe Fagin. Once you've done this can you write a paragraph describing Fagin? Use expanded noun phrases, adverbs and fronted adverbials. 

Maths - Today you are completing page 10. They are all one step word problems. Remember to; read the questions carefully, pick out the key information (numbers) and work out which operation it is - add, subtract, divide or multiply.

History - Today you are looking at some major events that happened during the Victorian era. Can you create a timeline and organise the card? Challenge - Can you research other major events/inventions during the Victorian times and add them to your timeline.

Today is day 7 of home learning. Remember you can send your work in to the address below:

English - Today you are turning text messages into speech using inverted commas. Tip - Inverted commas go at the start and the end of the parts spoken. Remember to put punctuation before the closing inverted commas. Can you use different synonyms for said?

Maths - Yesterday you were adding numbers mentally. Today you are subtracting numbers mentally. Use the tips from yesterday to help you. Remember your number should be smaller once you've worked it out. You can check your answers using column subtraction.

Spelling - Continue with your spelling sheet. Pick two other words to write into sentences. Try to make them interesting using fronted adverbials, conjunctions and interesting adjectives.

History - Look at the class rules for a Victorian School. In your books write a paragraph explaining whether you think the rules were fair or not. Afterwards write a second paragraph explaining whether you would like to go to a Victorian school.

Good morning class 14.

I hope you are all well. Today is day 6 of home learning - The start of week 2 in your packs.

Remember you can send your work to me. I would love to see what you have been doing at home. Below is the email address:

English - Today you are trying to find different words for said to show an emotion. For example, if you were angry you might use the word bellowed. Find as many words as you can for each emotion. Once you have done this can you write them into sentences. Can you impress me and use inverted commas correctly?

Maths - Today you are completing page 8. Mental addition - This means you work out the sums in your head without using column addition. Use your place value skills to help you - Think about which column you are adding. You can check your answers using column addition.

Spelling - Complete Monday's row and write two of the words into sentences. Can you up level your sentences - use interesting adjectives or a fronted adverbial.

Science - Experiment time! Today you are conducting an experiment for a band who want to soundproof a room but they're not sure which is the best material. Can you find some materials in your house and conduct an experiment to find out which one is the best for muffling out the noise? Have fun and I look forward to hearing your results.

Good morning class 14.

I hope you have all enjoyed your weekend. 

Today is day 5 of home learning. For English, you should have a sheet with the word astonished in the middle. Can you write; a definition, a sentence and synonyms for the word. After you have completed this can you draw a picture - you could draw yourself looking astonished.

In Maths today you are practicing your times tables. You have some worksheets in your packs. If you want to challenge yourself on page 16 and 18 there are some questions you can answer on your 6 and 9 times tables. You can answer these in your books.

Bonjour! It's time for French. You have a wordsearch and a worksheet to complete to recap the colours. Can you impress people at home? Can you point to your body and tell someone body parts? Here are some words to help you; bouche, tête, yeux, les dents, oreilles and nez.

Good morning class 14.

I hope you are all well. Today is day 4 of home learning.

Today you have English first. Your task is to add fronted adverbials to the start of a sentence. Remember after a fronted adverbial you need to use a comma. If you would like a challenge today. Look outside your window and see if you can write sentences using fronted adverbials. 

In Maths today you are working from page 7. You are finding out what is a 1000 more or less than a given number. Remember place value to help you with your work - write the headings Th H T O.

After Maths you have spelling sheet to complete. Can you write each word into a sentence? Try to make your sentences interesting - add interesting adjectives, fronted adverbials and adverbs.

This afternoon you have an art activity. Underneath each pattern is a box for you to duplicate each pattern. As a challenge can you draw some of your own patterns.
