During this Christmas period, Class 16 have been learning British Sign Language to the song 'We wish you a merry Christmas'.

Class 15 enjoyed learning about Buddhism’s Five Precepts and the Three Jewels of Buddhism.  

Children then thought about three things most precious to them.  

Today the school was buzzing with excitement as the children visited the free book shop in school to choose a selection of books to keep. This week, Class 16 have been studying poetry, and looking at the poem: The Highwayman.

We have been thinking about rhythm and beats, and this is us working together and performing the poem as a class.

Children in class 16 have been working on improving their scary stories using peer assessment.  

Children used peer assessment to redraft their stories.  Well done class 16!

Mr Needham was very impressed with the efforts of children in class 15, who were working on their reading comprehension skills.  

Children read Theseus and the Minotaur and answer a variety of question types, including fact retrieval, inference, word meaning, summary and structure.

Children in years 5 and 6 are always working on their reading fluency using Reading Plus.

A brilliant show from the Rocksteady Rockstars! Our 5 bands played amazing songs and it was great to see some of our pupils in their first ever live performance. I cannot wait to see what you do next term! Well done to you all for your hard work and dedication to getting better.

Class 15 were very sensible when learning about Buddhist beliefs and discussing the topic of suffering - children used their oracy skills to discuss times when suffering might have taken place.  

Well done Class 15.

This week, Class 16 were testing water resistance. In groups, the children made 2 different objects out of play dough - one which they thought would have more water resistance and one which they thought would have less water resistance against it. 

We used stop watches to time their results.…

This week, we discussed homelessness. 

We spoke about what is important to us, what is essential to living and what is not important. 

Children then gathered their ideas and we used a traverse to explain our ideas.
