Year 6

This half term, we have been learning about plastic pollution. 

Each child has picked a sea animal, that is vulnerable and affected by plastic pollution. We have then been using reusable plastic to make these animals in our art lessons.

Children in class 15 enjoyed building the sea creatures from single use plastic.

Class 14 enjoyed their session in the library - choosing new books and having the opportunity to read in the library.

Class 14 have worked hard on their number day t shirts.

Class 15 let their imaginations run wild after being inspired by the story The House the Greedy Pig Built. Using their super maths skills in scale and measurement, the children designed and created their own dream house blueprints.

Class 15, really enjoyed the visit from the pharmacist, they asked lots of questions and they now understand why maths is so important in all careers.

Mr Needham was very impressed with the extra work completed at home by a pupil in Class 14.

The pupil has an interest in space and the solar system so completed some research on it.

The children had a fantastic time visiting The Deep in Hull, East Yorkshire—home to an incredible variety of marine life, including sharks, stingrays, the UK’s only pair of Green sawfish, hundreds of tropical reef fish, Loggerhead sea turtles, and a lively colony of Gentoo penguins.

Class 15 enjoyed investigating how Vikings lived on a day-to-day basis.  Children worked in groups and researched a chosen topic, such as Viking homes.

Class 15 have enjoyed thinking about the transition to Secondary School.  

Children discussed hopes and challenges and then worked in groups to think of ways to manage challenges when moving to Secondary School. 

This week, we used our oracy skills to look at a scenario and discuss how Sasha might be feel8mg at differing points within the story.
