Year 4 (Class 11) - Oracy / Science - Linguistic Skills
Today we developed our oracy during science.
We worked in teams to retrieve information from hidden research sheets.
They had to develop their linguistic skills and use appropriate vocabulary to identify organs and describe the functions in the body.

Year 4 (Class 9) - History / Oracy - The Greatest Pharaoh
Today, we used our oracy skills to discuss who was the greatest pharaoh was.
We discussed biases that people may have such as gender, length of rule and level of fame.
We then worked in trios to debate and Comte to our own conclusions.

This week in RE class 12 have used our oracy skills to discuss what aspects are most important in our lives.

This week in English Class 12 are studying Balanced arguments.
In groups they came up with for and against points.
They then added conjunctions to build on and challenge the points.

Children in Class 15 completed an Oracy lesson in PSHE in which children looked at risks involved for pupil X, who was a pupil asked to carry items across an estate by an older group of children.

This week, we discusses pollution and how it affects metals.
We had an oracy discussion based around different types of metals, and how air pollution can affect them. We then tested this, and are observing our results over time.

This week in science class 12 we have had an oracy focus.
We have been discussing: are metals a sustainable material?
And are electric cars good for the environment?

This week, we looked at Greenland, and how the residents are affected by the melting ice caps.
We then had a debate, where some children argued that the melting ice caps were having a positive impact on Greenland, and some children argued against.

Today we practiced performing poetry. We developed our oracy skills by concentrating on the speed and volume of our voice.
We added in gestures and actions to improve the performance.

Class 15 were very sensible when learning about Buddhist beliefs and discussing the topic of suffering - children used their oracy skills to discuss times when suffering might have taken place.
