This year, PP has brought a wonderful pupil-led idea to life, turning a simple act of kindness into a school-wide initiative.
It all began when a thoughtful pupil from class 16 asked if he could donate some of his own unwanted but well-loved items—still in good condition—to another child who might need them. Inspired by his generosity, PP developed the idea further and extended the invitation to the entire school community.
Pupils from across the school were encouraged to donate gently used items such as toys, books, clothes, and games. The response was overwhelming, with many children contributing thoughtfully chosen items they no longer needed but knew could bring joy to someone else.
Once the donations were in, PP carefully sorted and organised everything by age group and type of item. They then arranged a series of after-school sessions during pick-up time, where parents and children could browse through the donations and take home anything they found useful. These events were designed to be welcoming and discreet, ensuring that everyone felt comfortable and included.
The initiative has now run successfully three times and continues to grow. More donations are coming in throughout the year, and PP plans to hold additional distribution events in the coming months. The spirit of generosity and community shown by our pupils has been truly heartwarming, and we’re proud to see such compassion and initiative being demonstrated by our school community.
PP has taken on another exciting initiative to support the wider school community. This time, their goal is to enhance break times by providing children with more equipment that promotes both cognitive and physical development—specifically through activities like den building.
To support this, we’ve begun reaching out to a range of companies, asking for donations of any unwanted, surplus, or second-hand items that can be safely used by pupils during break times. Suitable items might include large cable reels, tyres, plastic pipes or tubing, guttering, crates, blocks, and similar materials.
We are currently awaiting responses and will soon begin compiling a list of available donations. We’re hopeful that this initiative will provide pupils with even more opportunities for imaginative play and creative problem-solving during their free time.
