Here is some information about the Farnley Academy Open Evening on Thursday 1st October 2026.

This week class 13 have studied the war time landscape artist Jaqueline Hurley. They have created an artist focus page in their books and critiqued her work.

Everyone’s was different and the children were allowed to be as creative as they wanted with the information given.

This week in PSHE Class 12 practiced mindfulness breathing exercises. 

We also did light, moderate and vigorous exercises and discussed their effects on our body and minds.

Class 6 have been learning about place value in maths. 

They took a number, partitioned it into tens and ones before adding it back together again. They enjoyed practically finding the amount of tens they needed and counting in tens, before counting on. 

Super work class 6. 

Class 6 have been learning about Leeds and the buildings within it.

They looked at some buildings, thought about what they might be and when they might have been built. They then put them into a timeline.

Good team work class 6. 

Today in maths we looked at 100,10 and 1 more and less than 3 digit numbers. 

We used practical resources to help us if we needed to exchange when crossing the borders. 

Children in Years 5 and 6 have enjoyed attending homework club to complete their different tasks set for the week.
