Year 6

Class 16 in their cultural clothes.

This week, year 6 played some team building games in PE. 

Here, we had to balance as much PE equipment on the children acting as scarecrows. 

The team with the most equipment won!

Year 6 had a great day visiting Flamingo Land. The weather was amazing and children had a full day at the theme park - 10:00 until 17:00.  

Children had the opportunity to go on many rides (more than once), visit the zoo and enjoy spending time with friends.

ICT club returned this week and we made use of the Micro:bits kindly donated by Farnell UK.

We used the makecode editor to create a beating heart and a thermometer.

Everyone quickly picked up the basics so we will be creating something more taxing next week!

To celebrate Multi-Cultural Week, year 5 and 6 students visited the local mosque. 

The children learned more about Islam and how Eid is celebrated. The Imam explained his role within the mosque, and the children were given the opportunity to ask questions.

We looked at completing tasks set by Mrs Wainwright and Worship Council on thankfulness and integrity.  

It was nice to have time to reflect on what we are thankful for and also why having integrity is so important.  

In PSHE, we looked at reasons why it’s important to keep ourselves clean and we looked at different ways we can do this, such as brushing our teeth and washing our faces using face wash.  

We enjoyed reading ‘How to survive a Viking raid’ in English and we then answered mixed questions on the text.

Year 6 had a special visitor to celebrate efforts during SATs Week.

 A big thank-you to ‘Vision For Education’ for arranging the visit of an ice cream van to the school.  

Children loved having an ice lollies/ice cream!

We raced through the cold Arctic Ocean to Greenland as Viking longships!

Well done class 17 for raising our wonderful butterflies.

We watched them grow and cocoon into wonderful creatures and released them today into the big wide world.
