Minutes:

Ask It Basket

  • The Ask It Basket was discussed as a way for pupils to share ideas, worries, or suggestions.
  • It was agreed that pupils need reminding that they can approach Pupil Parliament representatives directly with ideas.
  • Question raised: should there be a central Ask It Basket in each area of the school?
  • Teachers were asked whether they could also contribute ideas to the Ask It Basket.
  • Action: Explore placing Ask It Baskets in clear, accessible locations and remind pupils regularly about their purpose.

Playground Equipment and Playtime Improvements

  • Pupils suggested adding playground equipment such as slides or other activities to make playtime more exciting.
  • Discussion around whether a playground equipment budget could be introduced.
  • Idea suggested to run a survey to find out what pupils would most like.
  • Additional ideas included: 
    • Children and adults working together to set up an obstacle course.
  • Action: Create and distribute a pupil survey to gather opinions on playground improvements.

Wellbeing Wednesday

  • Wellbeing Wednesday was discussed as an opportunity for pupils to talk about feelings, worries, or concerns.
  • The role of Mind Mate Ambassadors was discussed.
  • Decision: Wait until Mind Mate Ambassadors are in place before starting.
  • Considerations raised:
    • ​​​​​​​Should Wellbeing sessions happen on different days?
    • Would sessions work best as drop-in sessions during break or lunchtime?
    • How many Mind Mate Ambassadors will be needed?
  • Action: Revisit this item once Mind Mate Ambassadors are appointed and plan a timetable for drop-in sessions.

Surveys and Gathering Pupil Voice

  • Discussion on how to get more ideas from pupils across all year groups.
  • Suggestions included: 
    • ​​​​​​​Teachers collating ideas in classes where there is no Pupil Parliament representative.
    • Using surveys to gather wider pupil voice.
  • Action: Staff to support collecting ideas from all classes and feeding them back to Pupil Parliament.
