Year 5 - Homework Club
Thursday homework club was well attended last week.
Children in years 5 and 6 have the opportunity to complete their homework every Monday and Thursday lunchtimes.

Year 5 (Class 13) - Maths - Multi Step Addition & Subtraction
This week class 13 have enjoyed working in groups to decipher multi-step addition and subtraction problems.

Year 5 (Class 13) - Art - Stencils
Class 13 have learnt a new skill in art. We have learnt how to make a basic stencil a skill that they will use in their Banksy art.
They had lots of fun creating their own stencils. A few children even mastered making a positive and negative image.

Year 5 (Class 14) - Art - Stencils
We have been experimenting with stencils. The children cut their own shapes and pictures, then used sponges to create both negative and positive stencils.
This is how Banksy creates his pictures on the walls around Britain.

Year 5 (Class 13) - Science - The Solar System
Class 13 have had lots of fun taking on the roles of scientists this week.
They have produced this video explaining how it took many scientists many years to prove that the solar system is heliocentric (sun at the centre) not geocentric (Earth at the centre) as first thought.

Some year 5 and 6 pupils had a fantastic opportunity to try golf this week.

A brilliant workshop on how to draw your character in your story.
The children had so much fun and their drawings were amazing!

Class 14 have been learning all about the history of how scientists have developed the idea of the world being flat, to what we know now, that the world is a sphere.

Year 5 had a great time in the library with the guest author Kate Pankhurst who talked about how she has developed her books all about great women from history who changed the world.
