Year 2

What a great morning we have had in year two. We met Sir William who was around during The Great Fire of London.

Year 2 - Here are class 5’s Track it point winners last term - well done!

Class 6 were the KS1 track it winners for the autumn term, well done everyone! 

Class 6 have worked hard in music, practicing playing the start of little donkey on the glockenspiels. 

They then improvised the sound of a donkeys hooves, then wrote down their composition before practising it and performing it in pairs.

It was wonderful to have a visit from  Sheila Banks  (our Chair of Governors) today. 

She enjoyed watching a phonics lesson in KS1 and working with children in class 5 as part of an Oracy lesson in Geography. 

We built a whole class castle using our previous skills from commando joes sessions this half term and our knowledge of castles from our trip to Skipton castle.

Year 2 had a fabulous time at their Cheer Dance session. 

They learnt part of a cheer routine, played some games and shared their best dance moves. 

I was very impressed by some of their dance moves.

Class 6 had an amazing time at Skipton Castle or (sheep town castle) as it was formally known. 

We learnt all about the history of the castle, from the Clifford Family who were the Lord and Lady who lived in it, to Mr Mason, Mr Cook, Mr Carpenter who helped build and work in the castle.

In science we are looking at the properties of different materials. 

This children had to think about the words ‘stretch, bend, squash and twist’ and discuss if certain objects could complete those movements. 

Class 6 have been manipulating materials. 

They completed an experiment to discover what could be stretched, squashed, bent and twisted. 

They discovered that some materials such as plastic could be bent in the case of a whiteboard, but not bent in the case of a pen.
