Year 4

Today we combined our two favourite things - science and Minecraft! 

We learned about axolotls that are on the verge of extinction in the wild. We followed instructions to find them in the Minecraft world and built them a special pond. 

We bred them in pairs and then reintroduced them back…

Today we started on forces and magnets.

We discussed familiar activities that use pushes or pulls and classified them.

The children loved going to Hollywood Bowl.

There were some fantastic scores and we can't wait to go again next year.

What a fantastic event!

All the children enjoyed trying lots of different activities and very well behaved throughout.

We can't wait for the next one.

Classes 9 and 10 had a fantastic time looking at clues in our book day workshop.

Kashish has very kindly made the teachers buns. She has used a recipe from her library book.

Today we carried out our investigations into shadow size. 

We found that shadows got bigger when the object was closer to light source because it is blocking more of the light. 

We recorded our results and made our conclusions. 

This week in Maths we have been looking at perimeter.

Children have found the perimeter of polygons working together.

Class 9 were very lucky to have a special visitor linked to our green screen topic in Computing. Ashleigh, who is Mrs Morris’ daughter and who used to come to our school, came in to discuss her job.

Some children learned to ride and others improved their skills.

Our topic this half term is light. This week we have been investigating which material would be best to use as a reflective strip on a book bag. 

We used data loggers to and torches to test which material is most reflective. 

We then used our data to help us to design a book…

Class 9 had a fantastic Roman day! We learned about why the Romans invaded Britain when it was so difficult for them. 

We then dressed as Romans and used the shields we made to march around school. 

We even invaded a few enemy classes!
