Year 2

In computing class 6 have been using the Scratch program to write algorithms. 

They have practiced writing algorithms as a class then wrote their own, using their own underwater theme. They had to get their sea creature to the boat and back. Pupils also debugged their algorithms when they went…

Today the children reflected about what happens when we have problems with their friendships. They said that when they fall out with friends it makes them feel sad and worried.

We looked at different places we could get help when we are worried.

Class 6 learnt some new vocabulary in maths when learning about 3D shape. They learnt, faces, vertices and edges.

They then explored different shapes and discovered how many faces, edges and vertices each shape had and if there were any patterns. 

Class 6 have been creating art work inspired by Leonid Afremov, they painted a background, tested different media, learnt how to draw a castle, learnt how to add texture to wood and brick, before applying it all in a final piece.

Class 6 have been reading The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch, and we finally read the ending of the story.

It turns out one of the main characters isn’t very nice and the children explained why using a stem sentence for support and explained using ‘because’.

Class 6 have been learning about castles in history. In this oracy lesson the children were voting for the most effective defence using their talk tokens.

Class 6 learnt some new 2D shape vocabulary. They learnt the words sides and vertices.

Class 5 have been learning about the different percussion instruments in music.

They really enjoyed performing the song ‘Music In My Soul’ using the instruments the keep with the beat and tempo of the song.

In Class 6 we have been practising our typing skills in our information technology topic.

The children thought of times when they have been kind to others and made badges to celebrate their friendships. 

Class 6 have been partitioning 2 digit numbers in class, they have worked hard to carrying on counting on from tens and applying their knowledge of number.
