Year 2

Class 6 learnt some new vocabulary in maths when learning about 3D shape. They learnt, faces, vertices and edges.

They then explored different shapes and discovered how many faces, edges and vertices each shape had and if there were any patterns. 

Class 6 have been creating art work inspired by Leonid Afremov, they painted a background, tested different media, learnt how to draw a castle, learnt how to add texture to wood and brick, before applying it all in a final piece.

Class 6 have been reading The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch, and we finally read the ending of the story.

It turns out one of the main characters isn’t very nice and the children explained why using a stem sentence for support and explained using ‘because’.

Class 6 have been learning about castles in history. In this oracy lesson the children were voting for the most effective defence using their talk tokens.

Class 5 have been learning about the different percussion instruments in music.

They really enjoyed performing the song ‘Music In My Soul’ using the instruments the keep with the beat and tempo of the song.

Class 5 worked in groups today to create posters all about Kirkstall Abbey.

In class 5 we have been thinking about what makes a good friend. 

The children thought of times when they have been kind to others and made badges to celebrate their friendships. 

Class 6 have been partitioning 2 digit numbers in class, they have worked hard to carrying on counting on from tens and applying their knowledge of number.

Children in class 5 enjoyed their maths lesson today. They were able to identify and match different ways numbers can be represented.

They had lots of fun problem solving together and sharing their ideas.

In R.E Class 6 have been learning how to make good choices. 

They discussed what happens if you don’t follow rules then carried out a role play.
