Year 6

Well done to all the children in Years 5 and 6 who have completed Autumn Term Homework Challenges.  

Work is proudly displayed in the Years 5 and 6 area.

This week, we discussed alcohol abuse. We used our oracy skills to instigate and build on each other’s ideas. 

We spoke about how alcoholism affects the person and their health and well-being. 

And then how it can affect other people around them. 

This week at Computing Club, pupils got hands-on with the LEGO Education SPIKE Prime Sets to build their very own breakdancing robots! 

After assembling their creations using motors, sensors, and colourful LEGO components, they moved on to coding the robots with custom dance routines.

This week in history, we studied the suffragettes. 

We discussed their activism, the approaches and extreme measures that they used, and if they were successful activists or not.

The children used their oracy skills to discuss these key questions, focusing on responding clearly to each other…

In Computing Club we all finished our builds of 'Kiki' the dog. 

We then had a discussion about how pets can react to their surroundings and then went on to build the code in the Lego Spike app. Once the code was downloaded to our robot we moved Kiki in front of each of the coloured bricks.…

This week we used the Lego Spike App to start building 'Kiko' the dog.

The app gives us step by step instructions on how to complete the build.

Everyone did a great job!

Class 16 have been learning about clothing in French and started to learn today how to ask what someone is wearing and replying n French. 

The girls made a great start, well done!

As part of our Banksy topic class 15 have learnt and practiced how to make a stencil along with how they work in preparation for their Banksy inspired piece later this term.

We have had some fantastic work produced and the children enjoyed learning a new skill.

We are enjoying the different activities on offer during break and lunchtimes.

We are working extremely hard on how we walk into school after break and lunchtimes.  

We are very keen to follow the St Bart’s Way when moving around school.

In the first week of Computing Club pupils have been using the new Lego SPIKE Prime Kits. 

These bring together LEGO bricks, a programmable, multi-port Hub and a coding language based on Scratch.
